Developing Competencies and Professional Standards for Health Promotion Capacity Building in Europe (comPHP)

The CompHP Project aims to develop competency-based standards and an accreditation system for health promotion practice, education and training that will positively impact on workforce capacity to deliver public health improvement in Europe.

The project aims to use a consensus-building approach to establish means and methods by which quality governance standards in health promotion can be implemented across Europe to stimulate innovation and best practice.

The project is funded by the European Agency for Health and Consumers (EAHC) and runs from 2009 through 2012.
 
The project is structured into units of work or ‘workpackages' (WPs). Three core workpackages focus respectively on the coordination and management (WP1), dissemination (WP2) and evaluation (WP3) while the remaining workpackages (WP4-8) focus on specific aspects of developing and testing the competencies, standards and accreditation. The RSPH [Royal Society for Public Health] is leading the work of Work Package 5:
