Why buy Accredited Products?

The Royal Society for Public Health is committed to improving standards in health and hygiene, and ensuring that claims made for consumer and industrial products are substantiated.

Organisations who apply to this service are required to produce rigorous scientific evidence to support the claims they are making. This is scrutinised by our panel of microbiologists and specialists in hand hygiene, dermatology and infection control, who assess whether the claims can be genuinely upheld by the scientific evidence.

They check exactly how the claims will be worded in advertising, and also specify situations where they may not be used.
Manufacturers who apply for our accreditation have to supply very detailed and commercially sensitive data to us, and they know that we will not accept anything less than the best.

Because technology changes so fast, we check regularly that the hygiene claims remain valid, even if the product formulation or design has been changed.
By choosing to buy a product that bears our logo, or a written endorsement from us, you can be sure that the hygiene claims made for the product are genuine.
