1. RSPH announces support for training and qualifications in Mental Health First Aid

   3 December 2008

   At the first Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) conference being held at London's Queen Elizabeth II conference centre on 10th December, the Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH) will announce that, together with the National Institute for Mental Health England (NIMHE), it is developing a national qualification in Mental Health First Aid and is also accrediting the national training programme for the MHFA course instructors.

2. APHA Annual Conference in San Diego

   20 November 2008

   This year's American Public Health Association (APHA) conference was held in San Diego, California, between 25-29th October with the theme 'Public Health without Borders'. In the RSPH session, Dr. Selwyn Hodge, Chair elect of the RSPH, and Dr Mahmood Adil, Director of the Care Quality Commission (CQC), discussed regulation of health and social care in England.

3. World Toilet Day: RSPH Asks 'How Healthy are Our Loos'?

   14 November 2008

   Poor hygiene is threatening public health and RSPH believes that, on World Toilet Day - Wednesday November 19, the developed world has no reason to be complacent about its loo routines.

4. EUPHA Annual Conference in Lisbon

   10 November 2008

   The European Public Health Association (EUPHA) held their annual conference in Lisbon, Portugal from 5th-8th November 2008. There were around 1300 attendees at the conference, which was themed 'Health and innovation in Europe'.

5. Dyson Airblade TM hand dryer first to gain new hygiene accreditation

   8 October 2008

   The Dyson Airblade TM hand dryer is the first product to join the Royal Society for Public Health's new accreditation scheme (www.rsph.org.uk), which is designed to endorse products that support health, hygiene and safety.
