RSPH announces support for training and qualifications in Mental Health First Aid

At the first Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) conference being held at London's Queen Elizabeth II conference centre on 10th December, the Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH) will announce that, together with the National Institute for Mental Health England (NIMHE), it is developing a national qualification in Mental Health First Aid and is also accrediting the national training programme for the MHFA course instructors.

APHA Annual Conference in San Diego

This year's American Public Health Association (APHA) conference was held in San Diego, California, between 25-29th October with the theme 'Public Health without Borders'. In the RSPH session, Dr. Selwyn Hodge, Chair elect of the RSPH, and Dr Mahmood Adil, Director of the Care Quality Commission (CQC), discussed regulation of health and social care in England.

EUPHA Annual Conference in Lisbon

The European Public Health Association (EUPHA) held their annual conference in Lisbon, Portugal from 5th-8th November 2008. There were around 1300 attendees at the conference, which was themed 'Health and innovation in Europe'.

Celebrating excellence at the RSPH

On 23rd September, the Launch of the Royal Society for Public Health was twinned with the awards ceremony for our Prize winners for 2008. Prizes were given for our large spectrum of qualifications including the categories of Food Safety, Nutrition, HACCP, Health and Safety, Salon Hygiene and Anatomical Pathology Technology.

Presentation for first health promotion awards

Four health organisations and one health partnership were presented with the first Royal Society for Public Health Health Promotion and Community Well-Being Organisation and Partnership Awards at the new Royal's Launch and Awards ceremony on Tuesday 23rd September in London. The presentations were made by Dr Fiona Adshead, Chief Government Adviser on Inequalities and Deputy Chief Medical Officer.
