Public Health is the world’s oldest public health journal, having been in continuous publication since 1888. Published by Elsevier, one of the largest publishing houses in the world, we benefit from a high level of exposure and support. Science Direct, Elsevier’s online portal, provides access to the journal in libraries and universities across the world. This archive bears witness to the large number of prestigious authors who have been published within its pages, and the fact that over 1400 pages of research and reviews are published each year.
The number of monthly downloads via Science Direct has increased from 7,400 in 2006 to 10,500 in 2007 – a clear indication of the very real and continued increase in Public Health readership – and in June 2008, Public Health celebrated the news that its 2007 impact factor had passed the elusive 1.0 mark. As part of a growing collaboration with Elsevier, Public Health recently held its first international conference in Lisbon on the theme of ‘Social, Cultural and Economic Determinants of Health: International Perspectives for Global Action’.
With an international reputation and increasing numbers of authors seeking publication, we are dedicated to expanding its reach and influence in the UK and abroad.
