Certificate in Food Hygiene Awareness - Level 1
The Certificate in Food Hygiene Awareness is a basic qualification appropriate for anybody wishing to have an awareness of food hygiene. It has also been designed to help the food and catering industries to provide training to a safe level for those who perform "low risk" tasks such as clearing tables, maintaining stores, "meals on wheels" and other such similar duties. This qualification is also relevant to employees working in food factories but not in "high risk" sections of the plant.
Fundamentals of Food Hygiene for the Food Industry - Level 2
This qualification is designed principally at those working in all sectors of the food processing and manufacturing industries. The qualification provides the basic knowledge for candidates to be safe food operatives and to be able to play an effective role in a food business operator's food safety management system.
Foundation Certificate in Food Hygiene - Level 2
This qualification is designed principally for those who are, or intend to be, food handlers. A food handler is any person, in any type of food business, who handles food, whether open or packaged (food includes drinks and ice). This qualification may also be appropriate for people whose work requires them to enter food premises, e.g. equipment maintenance engineers, off-site business owners/managers and delivery personnel. The aim of this qualification is to provide a basic knowledge of food hygiene.
Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering
This qualification is designed principally for those who are, or intend to be, food handlers working in catering. A food handler is any person, in any type of food business, who handles food, whether open or packaged (food includes drinks and ice). This qualification may also be appropriate for people whose work requires them to enter food premises, e.g. equipment maintenance engineers, off-site business owners/managers and delivery personnel. The aim of this qualification is to provide a basic knowledge of food hygiene.
Level 2 Award in Food Safety for Retail
This qualification is designed principally for those handling and/or preparing food within a retail environment. The trainee's role may include the handling of wrapped food or the handling (or preparation) of unwrapped food, including food subject to temperature control requirements. Applicable job roles would include those working in food storage areas, in-store bakeries, hot food preparation and service areas. Other job roles could include those working on the fish, meat, or fresh produce of delicatessen counters within the retail environment.
Level 2 Award in Food Safety for Manufacturing
This qualification is designed for those who work in all areas of the food and drink manufacturing sectors. As well as those directly involved in the handling, production or processing of food or drink items, the qualification may also be suitable for those whose work requires them to enter the workplace e.g. equipment maintenance engineers and delivery personnel
Level 3 Award in Supervising Food Safety in Catering
This Level 3 qualification is designed principally for those who are, or intend to be, supervisors of food handlers within the catering and hospitality industry. Holders will gain a broad knowledge of food safety and food hygiene, enabling them to identify problem areas and recommend solutions.
Level 3 Award in Food Safety Supervision for Retail
This qualification is designed for those who are, or intend to be, supervisors within the retail sector. The qualification is applicable to those who may supervise staff who handle or prepare wrapped or unwrapped foods, including foods subject to temperature controls.
Fundamentals of Food Hygiene - Level 2
This qualification is designed for anybody who handles food, including the general public, and is particularly suitable for those working in kitchens or undertaking frontline duties in preparing, processing or retailing food. The emphasis of this qualification is placed on the correct handling of "high risk" foods and the importance of temperature control.
Level 3 Award in Food Safety Supervision for Manufacturing
This Level 3 qualification is designed for those who are, or intend to be, supervisors in any part of the food and drink manufacturing sector. It will provide a knowledge and understanding of food safety principles and practices, and will enable candidates to identify problem areas and to recommend solutions.

Level 3 Award in HACCP for Food Manufacturing
This qualification is primarily aimed at supervisors/junior managers working within the food manufacturing industry, but will also be of benefit to caterers and retailers. Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) provides an effective and practicable management tool for identifying food safety hazards and ensuring that adequate controls are in place.
Level 4 Award in HACCP Management for Food Manufacturing
This qualification is primarily aimed at senior supervisors/managers working within the food manufacturing industry, but will also be of benefit to those working in catering and retail. This Level 4 qualification covers the importance of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP)-based food safety management procedures, the management and implementation of HACCP-based procedures, development of the procedures and the evaluation of the procedures.
Foundation Certificate in HACCP - Level 2
The Foundation Certificate in HACCP is appropriate for all persons employed in food and food related businesses who need to have an understanding of HACCP. It is particularly useful for those involved in the implementation and maintenance of HACCP and individuals who are, or intend to become, members of HACCP teams.

Level 2 Award in Health Promotion
The Level 2 Award in Health Promotion is a qualification covering the principles of health promotion. It has been developed to meet the increasing needs of a wide range of individuals to acquire fundamental knowledge and skills in health promotion, so that they are in a position to influence and advise. The Award provides candidates with an opportunity to work and train within a multi-disciplinary group, exploring and examining basic theory in relation to the concepts, influences and determinants of health.
Level 1 Award in Health Awareness
This qualification is applicable for everyone, but is especially appropriate: in the workplace setting as an introduction to health awareness; in the health and social care sector, including for those preparing for careers in these sectors or as a foundation for those in support roles to professionals; in education; in public services; and within corporate settings. 'Health and Safety' takes as its starting point the fact that most accidents are attributable to a lack of knowledge or carelessness and that the key to improvement is increased awareness on everybody's part.
Level 3 Award in Health and Safety for Supervisors in the Workplace
This qualification is aimed at supervisors who are required to ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislation. Supervisors should feel able, on the completion of the qualification, to design, implement and monitor a health and safety programme within a small to medium sized organisation having moderate risks.
Fundamentals of Health and Safety in the Workplace - Level 2
This qualification is designed principally for anyone entering the world of work for the first time or moving to a new place of work. It is suitable as an induction course in health and safety for new employees in a business or for health and safety refresher training. The emphasis is on making the employee safe for him/herself, safe for others and capable of identifying potential hazards.

This qualification is principally, although not exclusively, aimed at people working in pest control, who will be better equipped to carry out their professional duties safely, efficiently and humanely. It is designed to provide an understanding of public health pests and their control, and fulfills the legal requirement relating to the training of pest control technicians as set out in the Control of Pesticides Regulations 1986.
Level 3 Certificate in Pest Control
This qualification is designed to provide a greater understanding of public health pests and their control for established pest control technicians who wish to progress within the pest control industry. It is intended principally for individuals already within the industry who are required to supervise other staff and to assess sites, monitor the progress of jobs and have some control over, and responsibility for, budgets and resources.

This qualification is designed for established pest control technicians who wish to develop specialist expertise in order to be able to respond to the emerging threat posed by mosquitoes.
Level 3 Diploma in Pest Management
RSPH is in the final stages of developing a new qualification in pest control, the Level 3 Diploma in Pest Management, which will replace the current Level 3 Certificate in Pest Control. The new qualification will consist of a combination of core units that all candidates will take and a number of optional units in various pest control specialisms. Candidates will take one of these specialist units in order to demonstrate their expertise in a particular field.
