Welsh Government officials said: ‘It was pleasing to see the second round of certificates presented today to Special Procedures Practitioners in Wales who were successful in completing the RSPH Level 2 Award in Infection Prevention and Control in February".

“This is part of the ongoing work that is taking place in Wales to introduce a mandatory licensing scheme for practitioners of special procedures (acupuncture, body piercing, electrolysis and tattooing). As part of that mandatory scheme, practitioners will need to be licensed, and successful completion of a regulated and approved Infection Prevention and Control course will be a requirement of that licensing process. The mandatory scheme will be introduced when Part 4 of the Public Health (Wales) Act 2017 is commenced.”

The course is proving to be extremely popular. Individuals wishing to obtain this qualification should check the RSPH website for centres that are approved to deliver courses for the qualification. The full list can be found here. RSPH will shortly be launching a tutor pack to support centres delivering the qualification. The tutor pack will be available to download from the Centre Area.
