Reactions to food allergens requiring hospital admission are more frequent, though thankfully the number of confirmed fatal reactions to foods seems not to be increasing. Investigating reactions is ever more complex, not least because of the number of foods being avoided by some individuals, sometimes associated with different symptoms.

There are shortcomings in the availability, collection, investigation and reporting of necessary evidence. Work to establish allergen thresholds for different foods continues, increasingly with the added dimensions of symptom severity and associated co-factors.

This free webinar will discuss the how negotiating ‘may contain’ precautionary allergen labelling on packaging and in foodservice remains a challenge for all involved, and how risks may be mitigated by pro-active allergen risk assessment, management and communication on the part of food business operators, and informed engagement with food-allergic consumers and those who care for them.
