Legionnaires disease is on the increase - worldwide cases are rising. Typing of isolates, clinical and environmental, is essential to increase our understanding of the association between clinical and environmental strains. COVID -19 has brought many challenges on a global scale, including indications that COVID patients may be at increased risk of secondary infections such as Legionnaires disease.
This webinar is given by two internationally recognised experts from English and Danish reference laboratories updating us on legionella typing and the extra challenges that COVID has brought them. Dr Vicki Chalker will start off with the Lessons from Legionella analysis in England, how the legionella reference services have had to respond to the pandemic and updates on recent outbreaks and patient data. Dr Soren Uldum from the Danish reference lab will then present on typing in Denmark and the use of PCR and whole genome sequencing.
