Overview: This webinar will cover different perspectives on how to tackle obesity from two industry-leading experts who will share their knowledge and insight into this topic.
Professor Paul Gateley will share experiences of his work on Public Health England’s Whole System Approach to Obesity, particularly focusing on System Working Behaviours to tackle obesity.
Stuart King will delve into some best practice examples of community engagement and insight gathering through his behaviour change organisation BeeZee Bodies.

Professor Paul Gately
Professor Paul Gately is Director of MoreLife and a Professor of Exercise and Obesity at Leeds Beckett University, he is also a visiting professor in the Department of Surgery and Cancer at Imperial College London. Paul was the Principle Investigator on Public Health England’s Whole Systems Approach to Obesity and he is the Co-director of the Centre for Applied Obesity Research. His primary research interest is childhood obesity treatment strategies but also the wider determinants of obesity. Paul has delivered over 450 presentations and scientific publications, as well as numerous policy documents on childhood obesity and physical activity promotion.
Stu King is the CEO and Head of Distraction at BeeZee Bodies, a behaviour change organisation focused on obesity in adults and families, developing some of the most innovative and effective services in the industry. BeeZee Bodies were delighted to be winners of the RSPH award for Excellence for their BeeZee Families programme in 2019. Stu has worked across the system as a provider, an obesity lead within the NHS, a commissioner in a Local Authority, a Senior Scientist in the National Diet and Obesity Team at PHE and as National Implementation Manager at PHE, supporting the development of the Everybody Active Every Day guidance. He creates two podcasts on behalf of the BSPHN and PHE which are both about translating the often complex academic evidence into every day, pragmatic services for real people. They are called Real World Behavioural Science, and Real World Public Mental Health.
