This seminar will be a timely opportunity to discuss the future of social care in England, with the Government’s social care green paper due to be released by summer 2018.

It will bring together policymakers from the Department of Health and Social Care, and elsewhere in government, with senior representatives of local authorities, commissioners, care homes, home care providers, social workers, social care education, skills and training providers, legal practices, health economists and academics, interest groups, third sector organisations and other key stakeholders, together with representatives from the national and trade media.

The seminar follows the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care’s recent announcement on the seven principles of reform ahead of the green paper, including plans for a sustainable funding model; further integration across health and social care; increased support for carers; and a 10-year joint NHS and social care workforce strategy.

Rt Hon Professor Paul Burstow, Chair, SCIE and former Minister of State for Care Services has kindly agreed to deliver a keynote address at the seminar.

Delegates will discuss the potential impact of these key measures, as well as more immediate initiatives aimed at easing pressure on services, such as the council tax adult social care precept and additional funding from the final local government finance settlement for 2018-19.
