Speaker: Dr Sebastian Crespi is a specialist consultant in laboratory medicine. He is currently the chair of Biolinea International, a company that provides public health consultancy services for tourism worldwide.

Dr Crespi is a co-author of the 'European technical guidelines for the prevention, control and investigation of infections caused by Legionella species' and the leading author of the sections Water Management and Legionnaires’ Disease of the ABTA Health & Safety Technical Guide. He has served on different occasions as a consultant for WHO, ECDC and European Commission, mainly on the field of waterborne infections related with tourism.
This webinar will address the different factors behind the perpetual challenge of waterborne infections in the accommodation sector, not just Legionnaires’ disease but also those originating from poor water supplies and sewage contamination, leading to gastrointestinal infections.
The webinar will also look at:
- The possible causes that may help to explain the elusive control that the public health services are facing given the continuous incidents of travel associated with Legionnnaire’s disease cases
- The adequacy of some supposed best practices for prevention
- The proliferation of potential sources of infection or changes in determined epidemiological patterns.
