In the UK, the role of water in the transmission of micro-organisms in healthcare settings has become a matter of concern. This talk will primarily focus on water for special use in a healthcare setting and the problems water borne micro-organisms present.
We will talk about our experience in maintaining healthcare water quality trying to prevent transmission of water pathogens such as atypical Mycobacteria. Specific examples of problems dealing with medical equipment will be given for example Mycobacterium chimaera in Heater Cooler Units, problems and management in an endoscopy unit, as well as in a healthcare environment.
