Public health has never mattered more. The UK is facing big challenges – from worsening health and widening inequalities, to growing pressures on the workforce.

The work we do has never been more important. Keeping people well and out of hospitals won’t happen without making public health everyone’s business.

At RSPH, we believe that everyone – from governments and workplaces to businesses and communities – has a role to play in helping people live longer, happier and healthier lives.

This year’s Annual Report celebrates the difference we have made together – from opening up pathways into public health careers, to supporting a thriving community of thousands of members, to advocating for policies that put prevention first. You can read it here.

Health inequalities

It is essential for our health and our economy that we look beyond healthcare and put prevention at the heart of change. That’s why we’ve campaigned for action that tackles the root causes of ill health, from poverty and housing to education and the workplace.

Our work has also included targeted campaigns to increase vaccine uptake in vulnerable communities and research to highlight the links between poverty and poor health outcomes.

Supporting the wider public health workforce

As the UK’s leading provider of public health education, we’re proud to play a key role in helping people open doors to public health careers.

With the support of our 410 centres, we have delivered over 23,000 qualifications and logged over 56,000 CPD hours with our learners. That means we’ve enabled thousands of people to put their learning into practice and make a real impact, doing everything from preventing the spread of diseases to promoting healthier lifestyles.

We’re also home to a vibrant community of over 6,000 members who share a passion for improving the health of the public in the UK and across the globe.

Representing the public health workforce, our members work span fields from environmental health and food safety to infection control and occupational health.

Whether they’re making change locally or globally, they all share one goal: to help people live healthier lives.

Public health as everyone’s business

From the food on our plates to the air that we breathe, our health is shaped by the world around us. We have worked with partners across government, business and community settings to push prevention up the national agenda, achieving more than 1,600 media mentions to keep public health in the spotlight.

An independent voice for public health

For over 150 years, RSPH has been a trusted independent voice in public health. We have a proud history of transforming lives for the better through our education, training and advocacy.

As political and economic landscapes shift, our commitment remains the same: to protect and improve the health of the public.

The future of RSPH

We want our brand to reflect the communities we strive to protect and improve the lives of, and the people we represent.

That’s why we have developed a new website with the public at its core. It’s modern, easy to use and people-centred – which for us represents the key principles of public health. We hope that it helps you connect with our work in a new way.

We invite you to explore our new site and find out how we’re working to build a healthier future for everyone.
