The award celebrates the two long-standing collaboration between the two organisations.

The RSPH Qualifications team and the Food Standards Agency (FSA) have been awarded the ‘Awarding Organisation and Employer Relationship of the Year’ category at the FAB (Federation of Awarding Bodies) 2025 Qualifications & Assessment Excellence Awards.

The award celebrates their long-standing collaboration in developing a range of qualifications tailored to the needs of FSA employees and stakeholders.

Improving standards for better health protection

The partnership has played a vital role in protecting the public’s health by improving inspection standards, addressing industry-specific requirements and enhancing employee skills across the UK food chain.

Robust, standardised and accredited training aligned with national standards is crucial for ensuring that the public has access to safe food.

Equipping learners with the skills they need

Among the qualifications developed are Meat Inspection, Poultry & Meat Inspection, Unannounced Audits, Pre-Slaughter, Dairy Inspection, and Dairy Hygiene Inspection, ranging from Level 2 Awards to Level 4 Diplomas.

A key innovation has been the integration of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) qualifications at multiple levels, which equips learners with the skills they need to progress their careers. This forward-thinking approach has set a benchmark for best practices in the development and assessment of qualifications within the industry.

The partnership has also helped RSPH to offer qualification pathways that help people further their skills and develop a career in public health.

About the FAB Awards

The awards were held at a ceremony on the 27 November in Milton Keynes to celebrate success across the industry.

Now in its 10th year, the ceremony recognises the contributions made by awarding organisations and their employees over the past year to education and skills.
