Measuring public health impact
Supporting healthcare professions to record and measure their public health impact.

What are public health impact pathways?
Public health impact pathways support healthcare professionals to record what they do in their interactions with individuals, what data can be collated, and the possible impacts from these interactions.
This toolkit provides professionals with simple, quick and effective guidelines for recording and measuring the impact of the public health activities they are already undertaking – and encourages new areas of public health prevention to be considered.
Why should healthcare professionals measure their public health impact?
Demonstrating impact of public health is important to improve people's health and wellbeing, reduce health inequalities, and ultimately, prevent premature deaths from causes that public health interventions can, and should, prevent.
It also highlights the work of healthcare professionals and demonstrates the value of preventative services.
