How Did you get into Pest Control?

Drastic career change due to a road traffic accident. I moved from working underground in the coal mines in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire to starting with the NHS who put me through my BPCA 1 & 2 diplomas in pest control in 1999.

Five years after becoming qualified, I then started my own company as ABM Pest Control while continuing for the NHS Trust, covering 3 hospital sites. 25 years on, I still enjoy the thrill of fault finding and resolution for customers both residential and commercial.

How has your career developed since you started?

From a single tech to now a board member of the  National Pest Technician's Association.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

A happy customer and resolving rodent issues. We also remove live bees from buildings which often presents unique challenges, especially when in chimneys.

What would you say to someone considering a career in Pest Control?

Join forces, be willing to network and you will never be without inspiration.
