RSPH is offering training in public health with a focus on Core20PLUS5 for individuals looking to develop their skills and capabilities in reducing health inequalities and improving community health and wellbeing within their existing job and volunteer roles.
This training is suitable for anyone working in neighbourhood health and wellbeing roles, such as community health workers, health navigators, social prescribers, charity and education roles involving health advice, and support workers. The RSPH Level 2 Award in Public Health qualification is the core component of this training, and with added support to develop the skills to apply the Core20PLUS5 framework in communities.
Learners will gain skills and knowledge related to:
- Roles and responsibilities for supporting public health
- The importance of health promotion and disease prevention
- How to identify and manage public health risks
- Communication and behaviour change skills
- Core 20 plus 5 principles and how to put them into practice
The training is delivered over one full day online, from 9:30am to 5pm with one of our expert trainers. An online multiple-choice exam is included in the price, and once passed, learners will receive a certificate for gaining the qualification.

The Core20PLUS5 framework is a national approach to inform action to reduce healthcare inequalities at both national and system level. The approach defines a target population – the ‘Core20PLUS’, i.e. the most deprived 20% of the country in the index of multiple deprivation (IMD) – and identifies ‘5’ focus clinical areas requiring accelerated improvement.
