What will this webinar cover?
This session will focus on multi- and trans-disciplinary models of healthcare leadership in infection prevention, describing how healthcare organisations can bring together new learning to deliver daily water safety in clinical practice. This will support attendees to turn new information into action including how to enhance water safety as healthcare premises are maintained, updated and renovated. The session will describe the risks and opportunities faced when meeting the challenges posed by water and wastewater pathogens, including:
• Education and training for diverse professional groups
• Developing a clinically informed water safety group
• Embedding water safe practices in daily work for clinical and non-clinical staff
• Working with capital teams on new projects involving hot and cold water systems
• Prioritising water safety whilst working within governance structures and guidance
• Building a team of diverse professionals who feel psychologically safe to change practice using innovation and collaboration

Dr Jessica Martin MRCP FRCPath is a Consultant Microbiologist and the Medical Lead for IPC & AMR in Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust. Her clinical interests include prevention and treatment of infection in patients with immunosuppression, and bone and joint infection. She is the current Chair of the Healthcare Infection Society special interest group on AMR and wastewater (SPARC). Jessica is a Clinical Academic in the HCAI Research Group at the University of Leeds. Academic interests include HCAI, C. difficile, AMR and infection prevention relating to the built environment.

George McCracken
Chair
George McCracken joined the Health Service in 1993 as a Hospital Engineer in Northern Ireland. In 2002 he moved to the Royal Group of Hospitals, Belfast, as a Senior Engineer and in November 2007, George took up post as Head of Estates Risk and Environment in the new Belfast Health and Social Care Trust, which is one of the largest Hospital Trusts in the UK. He holds a 1st Class Honours Degree in Construction Engineering & Management, is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Building and an associate member of Institute of Healthcare Engineering & Estate Management. Currently George leads a Risk Team that has, and continues to provide, a unique and innovative approach to the management of risk within an Estates Healthcare Environment. He also leads the Estates Environmental Team, which has been at the forefront of developing technologies promoting sustainability in healthcare.
