The RSPH Health & Wellbeing Awards

Established in 2007, the RSPH Health & Wellbeing Awards is now the UK's premier awards scheme for promoting health and wellbeing.

  • The awards are, and always have been, free to enter
  • Each finalist will receive two free tickets to the RSPH Awards ceremony, where the winners will be announced
  • Previous winners have gone on to win funding bids, receive media coverage and attract new trustees and patrons

Applications for Health and Wellbeing Awards 2024 are now open!

The Awards recognise and celebrate a wide range of activities, policies and strategies that empower communities and individuals, improve the population’s health and address the wider social determinants of health.

The assessment criteria are based on the principles of the Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion and subsequent international declarations which call for action to achieve ‘Health for All’.

There are six categories representing the breadth and reach of public health projects and programmes:

The Public Health Minister's Award

Developed in partnership with Department of Health and launched in 2014, the Public Health Minister’s Award recognises and rewards excellence and innovation in public health programmes delivered by organisations across all sectors and in settings such as workplaces, schools, care homes, hospitals and the community.

Entering the RSPH Health & Wellbeing Awards is the only route to the Public Health Minister’s Award – it cannot be applied for separately or independently. The winner is selected from the finalists of the RSPH Health & Wellbeing Award by a Department of Health Award Committee led by the Public Health Minister.
