RSPH has accredited the half-day “Suicide First Aid® Lite / Aware” training programme provided by the National Centre for Suicide Prevention Education and Training Community Interest Company (NSCPT).
Suicide First Aid® Lite / Aware training provides learners with the basic knowledge needed to effectively intervene in situations where someone may be contemplating suicide. The programme includes training on the tools to recognise the signs, initiate life-saving conversations and connect to a person having thoughts of suicide. The training programme is now endorsed through RSPH’s accreditation scheme for training programmes.
NCSPT provides evidence-based suicide prevention programmes which empower communities and individuals to respond compassionately and appropriately to people at risk of suicide. It also campaigns to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding of suicide as a community health problem, as well as promoting international partnerships with other suicide safer initiatives.
RSPH is pleased to accredit this training programme, which addresses the public health challenge of suicide prevention. The Suicide First Aid® Lite / Aware training programme helps to empower people to intervene and support others who may be experiencing thoughts of suicide.
