What is the Neighbourhood Health training package? 

RSPH has designed this course to support Integrated Neighbourhood Teams to develop knowledge, skills and confidence to integrate public health messages and interventions into routine practice.

Who is this package for? 

This package is valuable for anyone working in or with an Integrated Neighbourhood Team role who would like to develop their skills and knowledge in relation to public health and health improvement. For example, those in primary care, pharmacy, community nursing, social care, social prescribers, link workers, local council and housing staff as well as voluntary and community sector roles.

Modules

The aim of this package is to support you with the knowledge, skills and understanding to deliver public health approaches, to promote the health and wellbeing of individuals, groups and communities. The package contains three modules: 

Level 2 Award in Public Health

Gain the knowledge, skills, and understanding of the key concepts of public health, approaches to promote health and wellbeing, and the tools required to support people to improve their health.

Gain the skills and information you need to have conversations with the people in your life to help them make healthier decisions.

Principles and Concepts of Social Prescribing

This course supports you to develop the knowledge, skills and understanding to deliver personalised care as part of a social prescribing programme.

Level 2 Encouraging Vaccination Uptake

Learn how to share the importance of vaccination programmes and use behaviour change models to support individuals making the decision to receive a vaccination.

Level 2 Encouraging Physical Activity

Build the knowledge needed to support others to increase their levels of physical activity. Note that this module must be taken through an RSPH-approved qualification centre.

After finishing these modules, you will then be supported to complete and submit a reflective activity exploring the application of public health knowledge and skills into your daily role. 

How long does it take to complete? 

The Public Health training package consists of 15+ hours of online study that you can complete in your own time over six months. Your progress will be saved inside the RSPH Learn LMS and you can come back to it at your own pace.

Certification  

Once you have completed the course, you will take additional online assessments to gain your Level 2 certificate. This package also provides points towards the RSPH Public Health Pathway, and one year of complimentary Associate membership. Learn more and create an account to start your pathway 

How do I access the package? 

Once you have registered for RSPH Learn, you will need to select which additional module you would like to take and purchase that version of the course. Once you have purchased the course, you can access it via the learning catalogue. From there, you can take the course yourself or assign it to a team member.
