On 23 September, the Launch of the Royal Society for Public Health was twinned with the awards ceremony for our Prize winners for 2008. Prizes were given for our large spectrum of qualifications including the categories of Food Safety, Nutrition, HACCP, Health and Safety, Salon Hygiene and Anatomical Pathology Technology.
The list of prize winners for 2008 and their trainers are listed below. Awards were also given to Barnet and Young Carers and Siblings for the Young Person’s Award, Pc Marc Griffin was given the Local Community Innovation award and NHS Plymouth, NHS Rotherham, Sefton Partnership, North East Essex PCT and NHS North Lancashire were all awarded the Health Promotion and Community Well-Being Organisation and Partnership Awards. The Music and Health Award was present to the Chelsea Community Music Project, Nordoff Robbins Centre for Music Therapy.

Food Safety Awards:
- RSH Level 3 Award in Supervising Food Safety in Catering – Joint 1st Paul Halliwell and Jill Bowen both trained by Highfield
- RSH Level 4 Award in Managing Food Safety in Catering – Jo Buchanan trained by Corinna Kamp at STS Solutions
- RIPH Intermediate Certificate in Food Safety – Jonathan Ayres-Donnelly trained in-house by Sodhexo

- RIPH Level 2 Certificate in Salon Hygiene (Hairdressing) 1st Prize Joanne Gas trained in-house at Calderdale College, 2nd Prize Karen Carne trained by West Sussex College
- RIPH Level 2 Certificate in Salon Hygiene (Beauty Therapy) – Julia Moulds trained by East Riding College
Anatomical Pathology Technology Awards:
- RIPH Certificate in Anatomical Pathology Technology – Gemma Halliwell trained by Dr Frank Rooney at Manchester College
- RIPH Diploma in Anatomical Pathology Technology – Joe Ogle trained by the National Bereavement partnership
