Dr Jyotsna Vohra, Director of Policy and Public Affairs said:

“The government  reviewing restrictions regularly is welcomed but the lifting and introducing public health measures must be led by the science. As the majority of companies have plans and resources in place for employees to carry on working from home and with the rates still high the government may not achieve the footfall in business areas that it desires by removing Plan B restrictions.

“Currently trends indicate that the rates of Omicron are falling and it is important that we do all that we can to continue this trend, as restrictions are lifted .  Therefore we urge the public to continue to wear masks in crowded public places, including public transport and shops. Good quality masks are effective in reducing the number of infections and along with vaccinations will support further restrictions not being needed. ”
