Presentation on the 2013 IChemE Awards short listed project to recover and reuse solvents in the highly regulated pharmaceutical sector. The Avlon Avara solvent recovery unit has significantly reduced global hazardous waste generation, reduced the sites consumption of solvents and eliminated a significant number of tanker journeys, delivery and waste, a year, all while ensuring the recovered solvent is suitable for manufacture of the final stage of a drug substance. The presentation will cover the technology used and the challenges which were overcome to deliver this process improvement.
