Guests of Honour: Maureen Watt MSP, Minister for Mental Health, The Scottish Government and Tam Baillie, Children and Young People’s Commissioner Scotland

Timed to follow the publication of the new mental health strategy, expected in late 2016, this seminar will provide a timely opportunity to discuss the next steps for improving mental health services in Scotland.

Delegates will consider key issues relating to the prevention and diagnosis of mental illness as well as the delivery of mental health services, with discussion focusing on early intervention, and access to appropriate treatment and support.

Further planned sessions will consider the next steps for improving children’s mental health, including improving access to child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS) and reducing admissions to adult wards.

The conference will bring together policymakers from the Scottish Government and Parliament with health professionals, representatives of mental health organisations, trade unions, stakeholders in education and training, local government, and healthcare and pharmaceutical industries, academics and commentators, third sector organisations, and user groups.
