Sing to Beat Parkinson’s invite you to join their fourth annual training residency at Snape Maltings on 27-28 January 2020. 

The course offers a unique and specialist opportunity for musicians and emerging artists to gain invaluable experience and a toolkit to run a Singing Group for people with Parkinson's and their carers, friends and families. 

The course will be led by Grenville Hancox (Honorary Professor in Music, Health and Well Being, University of Kent; Artistic Director and Founder, Sing to Beat Parkinson’s) and Nicola Wydenbach (Director of Training at Sing to Beat Parkinson’s). Additional specialist input will be provided by Dr Trish Vella-Burrows.


The course will run on two levels:
Stage 1 for new participants to

  • Gain a greater awareness and understanding of singing and Parkinson’s
  • Work alongside people with Parkinson's and their companions in practical workshops
  • Seek advice on how to set up, fund and run a Parkinson’s singing group

Stage 2 for returning participants:

  • Share experiences, best practice and repertoire
  • Network, problem solve, and discuss common issues
  • New for this year: Musicians Resilience

Cost for the two days - £150
(a 50% discount applies if you are already running an STBP network group) This price includes lunch on both days. Overnight accommodation is not included * 


 *Limited rooms are available in Snape's artists' accommodation in Aldeburgh at a cost of £48 per night. These are allocated on a first come first served basis. There are also numerous accommodation options in the local vicinity.
