The objective of this qualification is to support Mortuary Assistants to develop an understanding of the skills and knowledge required to support the safe and effective operation of a mortuary setting. This includes understanding the scope and importance of their role in areas such as infection control, health and safety, teamwork and communication, and the preparation and operation of a mortuary setting.
This qualification is suitable for individuals who work in support roles in mortuary settings, who would like to develop their skills and knowledge with a view to progressing into roles within Anatomical Pathology Technology.
This qualification can also form a step in a career pathway for Anatomical Pathology Technologists. Successful may seek employment opportunities as trainee Anatomical Pathology Technologists and progress to the RSPH Level 3 Diploma in Healthcare Science (Anatomical Pathology Technology), followed by the RSPH Level 4 Diploma in Healthcare Science (Anatomical Pathology Technology), the Foundation Degree in Anatomical Pathology and the BSc in Healthcare Science (Anatomical Pathology Technology).
