The BBC has put together a video that explains the lockdown rules that were put in place across England on 4 January. There are versions of the video which explain the rules in five South Asian languages: Urdu, Punjabi: Tamil, Gujarati and Sylheti.

COVID-19 Vaccine Q&A

RSPH carried out polling into public attitudes towards taking a COVID-19 vaccine, which revealed that ethnic minorities, including people from South Asian communities, were less likely to want to take a vaccine. The BBC has put together a video, with versions in Urdu, Punjabi: Tamil, Gujarati and Sylheti, which addresses some common concerns about the vaccine, including what ingredients are in the vaccine and what the long-term effects are.

There is a guide which has been produced by the UK Government on what to expect after you have had your COVID-19 vaccine, which is available in multiple languages. 

You can also download infographics about the COVID-19 vaccine in a range of languages here. These resources have been developed by medical students and doctors to communicate messages about vaccines in a straight-forward and engaging format.


How do vaccines work?

The COVID-19 vaccines were rolled out in December 2020 across the UK. Certain groups are being offered the vaccine first, including those with health conditions, frontline workers and people aged over 70. However, there have been some concerns over how quickly the vaccine was developed and what the side-effects are.
