R;pple 

R;pple is an interceptive tool designed to present a visual prompt when a person searches for harmful keywords or phrases relating to the topic of self-harm or suicide. These phrases include any words or terminology which have been identified as displaying potentially damaging online content.

 

 

An easily accessible, unique and innovative intervention that is easy to embed and scale. It was born out of tragic circumstances but has given an alternative message at a critical time when people are searching for information about self-harm and suicide. Evidence of effectiveness has been gathered and used within the programme to further its reach.

Being shortlisted for this award is a huge honour and very poignant. Ever since I lost my brother, Josh, to suicide, my team and I have been working day and night to stop this tragedy impacting any other families. Through our technology, we’ve intercepted over 2,000 harmful online searches relating to self-harm and suicide and saved 24 individuals from ending their life. Although we don’t do our charity work for backslaps, it’s fantastic to gain recognition for our work and we’re honoured to stand alongside some wonderful organisations.
