There are many different strains of Escherichia coli (E. coli), most of which are completely harmless and commonly found in the intestine of humans, cattle and other mammals. However, some strains of E. coli do cause disease, including E. coli O157, which was the topic of a recent members’ lecture by Dr Lisa Ackerley, Managing Director of Hygiene Audit Systems.
