RSPH has accredited the four core modules from London Metropolitan University’s MSc in Public Health programme.
Putting employability and career progress at the heart of its course, London Metropolitan University’s Public Health MSc course focuses on the wider determinants of health and wellbeing.
The course is aimed at those with an interest in working to improve population health and health promotion, attracting student from around the world, including China, India, and the United States. The course is led by Dr Justin Webb, former National Engagement Manager for Macmillan Cancer Support where he was leading on the charity’s healthy lifestyles programme
RSPH found the modules relevant and current, using a wide range of delivery resources to support the learning objectives for each module. A particular strength of the programme was found to be the support the programme provides for self-directed study.
The content of the modules link to selected knowledge elements of frameworks such as the voluntary UK Public Health Register frameworks for Practitioners and Specialists, as well as the linking to the RSPH Professional Practice Framework.
The modules now join the wide range of public health and wellbeing programmes accredited by RSPH through its accreditation service.
Shirley Cramer, CBE, Chief Executive of RSPH said: “Encouraging those studying and working within Public Health is at the core of what RSPH does. By working with LMU, we are able to support the vital work of educating the next generation of the public health workforce. A stamp of approval can bring confidence and credibility for students when establishing a career in public health.”
Kelly Cooper, Head of the School of Social Professions, said: "The Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH) is the gold standard in this field and we are very pleased to have gained accreditation for modules on our MSc Public Health programme.
