There is clear recognition that employee health and wellbeing is core to the success of any business. An evidenced based approach to occupational health and wellbeing is key to the delivery of a successful employee support service.

This one day course will provide essential learning for managers and HR specialists as well as clinicians working in or with occupational health to meet experts and understand the core principals of occupational health including disability legislation, employment law, HR relating to occupational health, health & safety and ethics. Delegates will learn from clinical and non-clinical case studies enhancing their knowledge of occupational health issues in today’s working environment.

Dr Pattani is an accredited specialist in Occupational Medicine, holding fellowship of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine and the Royal College of Physicians. She is the immediate past president of the Society of Occupational Medicine.

She has led Occupational Health Services as a Clinical Director in the NHS for 25 years and has experience working in the public and private sector. She has also worked as a General Practitioner in the NHS for 25 years.

Dr Pattani was awarded an OBE in the Kings New Year Honours 2024 for her contribution to Occupational Health.

She is keen to promote the agenda of ‘Work as a Health Outcome’ which includes occupational health support for all people of working age with health conditions or disabilities to find suitable work and prevent people falling out of work.

Dr Pattani is passionate about teaching and training and has been the Course Director for the Diploma Course in Occupational Medicine for the Royal Society for Public Health since 2010.


Dr Steve Boorman CBE MBBS MRCGP FFOM FRCP FRCN FRSPH 

 

Steve has been working in occupational health for many years, with 21 years in multiple roles with Royal Mail and CMO or Medical Director roles for four national OH services. Steve was Chief Examiner to the Diploma in Occ Med for 19 years until May 2017, and has set 39 McQ s and trained very many examiners, he also chairs the Faculty of Occupational medicine’s Ethics Committee.

He received a CBE for services to Occupational medicine in 2013 after leading an independent review of NHS staff health and well-being. He has worked strategically with DWP, DoH and NHS England and sits on the NHS England advisory board on staff health improvement. He has published and presented internationally on many aspects of OH practice.


Dr Anne de Bono OBE 

 

Dr Anne de Bono is a past President Faculty of Occupational Medicine and a Consultant in Occupational Medicine at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. Anne has a wealth of experience working in Occupational Health leading the development of a large multidisciplinary Occupational Health Service.
