This seminar will bring together key stakeholders to discuss the future for general practice in England.

Delegates will discuss key measures from the new GP contract - including next steps for completing the roll out of the Electronic Prescription Service and the full implementation of the e-Referral Service.

Attendees will also consider what more might be done to tackle the rising cost of GP indemnity, following the Secretary of State’s announcement of plans to develop a state-backed indemnity scheme for GPs - as well as the impact of professional regulation reform, with the conference expected to follow the Department of Health and Social Care’s response to its consultation Promoting professionalism, reforming regulation.

Further sessions examine what further measures can be taken to improve recruitment and retention rates - in light of Government targets to increase GP numbers by 5,000 by 2020 - including the progress of schemes such as the International GP Recruitment Programme, which aims to recruit 2000 overseas doctors over the next three years.
